Before you push the bike anywhere

Two minutes on the phone usually beats an hour with a mate's ute.

  • Call with the make, model and year first. Some bikes are bench jobs, some are dealer-only, and you want that answer before arranging transport.
  • Don't force a sticking barrel. The same wear that jams car ignitions jams bike barrels, and a snapped key turns a decode into an extraction.
  • Bring proof of ownership. Nobody cuts keys to a bike without it.
  • If the barrel is coming out anyway, bring the whole barrel in. A loose barrel can be worked on at the bench.

Bike stuck without a key?

Call with the make and model. If it's a job for the bench, we'll say so, and if it isn't, you'll know before you organise a ute.

Common questions

I've lost the only key to my bike. Can you help?

In many cases, yes. Keys can be decoded from the barrel or made from the lock. Bring proof of ownership, and call first with the make and model so we can confirm your bike's key type before you arrange transport.

Do you work on ignition barrels as well as keys?

Keys cut to a barrel, yes. One reviewer brought in a Triumph Street Triple ignition barrel and had the correct key cut for it, and another had spares recut after a different locksmith couldn't manage it. For other barrel work, call first with the make and model and we'll tell you what we can do.

My bike key has a chip in it. Is that a problem?

It depends on the bike. Call with the make, model and year and we'll tell you before you travel.
